The Gnostic Ophites worshipped the Serpent in the
Garden, as Christ defying the old judgmental God,
the Demiurge, Yahweh.
Philosophic Magic
~
Awaiting inSpiration from the Seed,
activation of life's Magic Bean;
the "True Vine" grows the Homunculus,
from the soil, Salt of the Earth.
~
The unconscious Ocean evaporated,
leaves behind white crystallization;
water into alchemical albedo,
saltpetre of our lesser stone.
~
Magic Dragon now comes into play,
to hone the Pearl of the eternal Day;
mercurial Creature of volatility,
fire-forges the Orb from the sea.
~
Mercury is our Hermes, Magician,
with his rod, Caduceus shining;
Magic Wand of reconciliation,
symbol of metallic transmutation.
~
Two snakes healed by cooperation,
rising up by way of sublimation;
unto the Moon, Earth's green ending,
the beginning of the Lion, winged.
~
Sulphurous Sun, born of Luna,
golden Soul from Spirit's fire;
Magic Lantern projecting Light,
with all the stories of our life.
~
On the stage of Earth they run,
the dramas of mythology spun;
process of immanence unfolding,
until The End of painful growing.
~
Behold the SunFlower of the mind,
transcendent Fruit of withered Vine;
golden Apple of the Hesperides,
the Serpent wise did tempt to eat.

Epilogue:
My rendition of the Ouroboros.
The sulphurous Sun rises from the
mercurous Moon-waters, evaporated
and distilled by the World Serpent
from the Salt of the Earth.
~
The night and day World Serpent, blackened by its own
fiery breath of pneumatic consciousness, self-devours,
digesting knowledge good and evil, imprinted in its own
instinctual tail (the id). Its head (ego conscience) distils
life's essence of the 4 elements into the silvery Grail-Dish
of the crescent Moon. Salt of the Earth thus becomes the
Moon (Mercury), containing the Holy Blood of Jesus and
John's sacrifice; the Rubedo or Holy Wine of the "Word",
Quintessence, the 5th eleMental Nectar of immortality.
~
From this Grail-Dish, the goddess, Luna, gives birth to the
sulphurous Sun, the Grail-Stone of the One; the eternal
Soul, "born of water and fire". "Lapis elevatus cum vento",
the Stone uplifted by the Wind on high.
