The Religion of Science

The Religion of Science.
(enthusiasm, Greek: "to be possessed by a god")
~
Religions are born spontaneously,
arising from the primordial Sea;
like Neptune, gods and their stories,
inform us of our deepest glory.
~
These mythologies in the human mind,
come in dreams or visions divine;
they catch our imaginations on fire!...
like falling in love, the goddess inSpires.
~
Then we are swept away in a reverie,
and act-out the dance of the story;
or tell the tale in an epic poem,
such is the power of a mythic Meme.
~
Even the recent Saurian invasion,
is a god with fiery disintegration;
revelations unfolding in an Alien Sky,
reveal that the gods are still alive.
~
  And so to Science, the latest mythology,
inSpired by the god of rationality;
an earth Spirit, feet firmly planted,
but also longing for Stars transcendent.
~
He builds satellites to hover above,
conjures-up "unified theories" in place of love;
creating great ideas for war and peace,
hoping one day we will conquer Mars.
~
But the Alien god of the red planet on high,
he is eternal, will not die or retire;
the scientific aSpiration for the heavens,
belies a secret desire to form a religion.
~
God cannot be conveniently set aside,
the Spirit of enthusiasm we cannot hide;
it rises again from unconsciousness,
inSpiring us all to join the vision-quest.
