The alchemist's pet Dragon breathes forth 

the pneuma of philosophic fire, transforming 

leaden thoughts into a golden New Mind. 

"Philosophic Fire" of the Dragon

(and the hisstory of the Serpent)

My mind undergoes the shift,

through the wormhole in consciousness;

devoured into the belly of the Beast,

pregnant furnace of the alchemist.

~

The Dragon fire-forges my Pearl,

in the churning motion of its whirl;

the Ouroboros of ancient mythology 

still circulates its breath in me.

~

And so into the fiery black-hole,

Sol Niger, the Sun of nigredo;

green-Dragon of the Animal-Spirit,

grabs its own tail, self-immolates.

~

Wings for bellows fan the fire,

the Holy Spirit lost in desire;

libidinal passion of hungry yearning

intensifies transformational burning.

~

Its head of potential awareness,

digests the tail of unconsciousness;

fire into the Light of solar fusion,

horns-into-Crown transmogrification.

~

Black into white-hot calcines the Dove,

the Serpent-Spirit transcends above;

albedo into rubedo, the Phoenix born,

red-Dragon signals a golden dawn.

~

The Id and Ego in my alchemical mind,

green Creature tamed by humankind,

becomes the sol-like Soul of Solification:

"philosophic fire" forges Self realization.

The flaming force of Serpent wisdom,
from the Orphic Egg in the beginning,
Christ's "Seed of the Word" of God,
blooms the Light atop Hermes' Rod.

Sol Invictus/Mithras/Phanes, born of the Philosopher's 
Silver Egg or Gnostic Spark (Christ's, Seed of the Word),
from which the fiery Snake of wisdom emerges, 
elevated on the wings of desire and inspiration,
 victorious over the flesh, roars golden like the Sun.
