Panning for Gold

(an alchemical method)

Four elements of Earth made conscious,

visceral instincts, emotional waters,

rational thinking and intuitional zeal,

all come together to square the circle.

~

Instinctual energy of the horned man,

Wind of pneuma at the gates of dawn;

nature-spirit clothed in primordial green,

panning the wellspring for a golden dream.

~

Cloven hooves in Arcadia grounded,

all things innocent, the Id submerged;

the play of opposites to be reconciled,

water and fire, female and male.

Mercurial Spirit in crescent Moon,

Holy Cup for distilling our Dew;

volatile mercury refines and sublimes,

unites the four elements in the mind.

The silvery Grail pans red quintessence,

holy blood from salt of immanence;

love's wine made conscious out of lust,

Red Sea crossed in the Moon chariot.

To the Sun flies the Bride of Christ,

Luna and Sol to be one at last;

horns into crown transmogrification,

alchemical wedding of Earth and Heaven.

Mercurous Spirit with sulphurous Soul,
joined together transcend the world;
love and light in the sky to behold,
Ruby set in silver, sealed in pure Gold.

Pan, Mercury, and Sol.

My rendition of the Green Man, Pan, Osiris, Adam, Id, etc,

panning the wellspring of life (the unconscious reservoir
of instinctual energy) with the Moon Grail-Dish, seaching

for the Grail-Stone of golden consciousness (the conscious 
ego) which has broken the surface tension of the reservoir
and sol.id.ified into a transcendent Soul. The Moon of
mercurial volatility processes the spirit of immanence,
cleansing away the dross of earth and fusing the 4 elements
together. According to the "law of conservation of energy",
energy cannot be created or destroyed, only change its form.
And E=MC2 means that energy and matter are the same. 
Therefore, instinctual energy (id) cannot die, it rises out of
the unconscious reservoir into the conscious ego, which
grows and eventually breaks free from the surface tension
of unconsciousness, into an individual and transcendent 
energy-Orb or quantum Solid (Sol~id), spirit into Soul,
Osiris into Ra, Pan (Adam) into Christ.

In the Apocalypse of Moses, Adam, on his deathbed, sent Seth
into Paradise to get oil from the Tree of eternal Life, which the Angel
refuses him, but instead gives Seth 3 seeds (in some versions branches
 or herbs) which he put in his father's mouth. A tree grew from Adam's 
grave and its wood was used for the Cross of Christ.
